TS 302 printer: Canon PG-245 Black Ink-Cartridge message -- "cartridge is not installed properly"

markb60000

The orange  light was  flashing 4 times meaning "The FINE cartridge is not installed properly"

I  have taken it out and  put it back in many times, but get the  same message.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Mark

Hi,

Since it printed but you are getting a low ink error, I would replace the color cartridge.

If the issue persists, please let us know.

Hi,

I recommend performing a reset of the printer. While the printer is on, unplug the power cord from the printer. While the power is off, press the power button 5 times. After 60 seconds plug the power cord back in and power on the printer.

If the issue persists, I recommend reaching out to Canon support for this issue. You will need to register your Canon gear HERE to access additional support options.

Arthur, I tried the reset but it did not work.

Then I tried re-installing the color ink cartridge, which I had assumed was out of ink.  Now I don't get the "not installed properly" message,  just "error" next to the document name in the print queue.

Would it help if I bought a new color cartridge?

Thanks,

Mark

Hi markb60000,

Is the error light blinking on your printer?

If not, please hold down the resume button on your printer until the error light blinks one time, then let it go.

Did a test page print?

If not, is the error light blinking?  If the error light is blinking, how many times does the error light blink before there is a pause?

After pressing the reset button once, the test page (with different colors) did print.  But when I try to print a document, a window comes up saying "collecting .. data," then it says "printer not responding" and the document in the print queue says, "error."

On another, perhaps related, perhaps not related subject, I am still using the color cartridge that I have been using for many months prior to getting the message about running out of ink.  If the printer does begin to print properly, should I buy another cartridge? I can do without color printing and would prefer that if it requires more ink or more trouble in any way.

Thanks,

Mark

Patrick, I did get the printer to print a document -- in addition to your suggestions, I uninstalled and reinstalled the driver.

The report I got as it printed is that the printer was low on ink.  You may recall that the black ink cartridge is new, while the color cartridge is old.  Should I buy another color cartridge?

Thanks for your help.
