I've had this printer for about a year now and today I cannot get the 1240 support code to clear. I have the operating panel open and the output tray extended. I have unplugged the printer and restarted it. I have tried printing a different document. I get the 1240 support code regardless of what I try. Help!

Try unplugging the printer and then press the power button. Did you open the control panel fully?

Yes I opened the control panel fully. I have unplugged it and turned it on. Still get the 1240.

Register your product on the support site and give Canon a call.

Product was already registered. Called them and they were no help but offered me 10% off a new printer. I will never again purchase a Canon product. This is a poor design and apparently cheaply made since I suspect the panel open sensor has failed and the recourse is to scrap the printer.
