PIXMA TS202 Spilled Water Down Printer

I have printer TS-202.  I accidentally spilled some water into the printer a few days ago.  I let it dry and two days after I tried to print.  One page came through, but the paper was slightly wet and the printing was not clear.  I tried again to print and got the error "paper jam".  I checked out the printer thoroughly and there was no paper jam.  So I figured I would let it dry three more days.  This time it would not print at all, but got the strange message "ink cartridge is not recognized".  No more paper jam messages.  So I had two fresh ink cartridges and tried putting them in and see what happens.  Same thing "ink cartridge is not recognized".  So I did some reading.  It says when this message comes up either one of two things: ink cartridge is not "right" for the printer, or it is "not put in correctly".  Now I KNOW the ink cartridge is correct for this printer, it is a PG 243 black ink cartridge.  Since I tried two fresh ink cartridges and still am getting this message, my conclusion is it CAN'T be a problem with the ink cartridge.  It must be related to the water spill in some way.  I air dried with a blow dryer the area around where the ink cartridge contacts are in the printer and all around the printer.  Still same message and will not print.  I ran the Windows troubleshooter and it found no problems, except "printer problem", but no details.  The amber light is flashing five times continuously.  Today, I tried it again and one sheet of paper comes through, but nothing printed.  That may be a clue. Then after the one, nothing will come through.  Ran a test page, nothing comes through.  It has been 6 days since the water spill.  I am worried it may be seriously damaged.  I have not called support yet, but plan to.  I thought I would put my problem here for any feedback as to what may have happened or is happening, or things I might try.  It appears the printer is "working", it is now just not recognizing the ink cartridge, so I hope it is not shot.  Thank you for any input on this matter.

Spilling water into a printer is a real bad thing, electrically as well as mechanically. You could well have done damage to the circuitry by shorting something. This isn't corrected by drying out. Sorry.
