My Pixma MG5720 scans only to PDF and places the image in Documents, which isn't handy at all for me. Can't find a path in, say, Settings to produce JPGs or PNGs instead of PNGs. Would also like image to go directly to the Desktop, although if it is in Documents it's readily accessible.
Would much appreciate help.

OOOPS! I've stumbled into the answers to both my problems and they are indeed remedied in Settings.
Don't use the(convenient) Canon Quick Menu but rather use ScanGear, providing JPG scans that can be set to go to the Desktop.
