PIXMA G3290 unable to see ink levels. Is there protective film over the tank windows?

I just purchased and set up a Canon Megatank Prisma G3290 printer. Only problem is I can't see the ink levels. Does anyone know if there is a protective film over the tank windows or are they just dark?

I spoke with Cannon. They were dark because each tank was filled with ink. They said as the ink goes down i would be able to see ink levels. We'll see...
