Prixma MG3520 prints very slowly via wifi compared to usb. 10 to 1 slower. Both Mac OSX and Win10. Printing from Word and Pages. Pringing from iphone is a little faster but no nearly as fast as usb. Bot the laptop in use and the printer are a few feet from the router. Router is running 10 gig internet speeds jssit fine.

Is this normal for this printer or do I have the wifi etup wrong on it.

Thanks for any help out there and Happy Holidays.

Hi JimO505,

In general, USB connections are faster than wireless connections, because it is a direct connection to the printer.  To ensure that you have an optimum wireless connection, we recommend ensuring the following:

1. The access point is located within the effective range for wireless communication.  Please locate the printer within 50 meters of the access point.

2. There is no obstruction.  Wireless communication between different rooms or floors is generally poor.  Adjust the location of the devices so that they are as close as possible.

3. There is no source of radio wave interference in your vicinity. There may be a device such as a microwave oven using the same frequency bandwidth as the wireless station.  Please place the wireless devices as far away from the possible interference source as possible.

Please note that the print quailty selected can also have an effect on how fast the printer prints; the higher the print quality selected, the slower the printing will be.

Hope this helps!  If you still experience difficulty, we ask that you please contact a Canon technical support representative here for further assistance.  A representative will be happy to assist you free of charge.

Thanks,

The router is within a few meters of the printer and there are no other interfering items except the Macbook Pro that is also in the area. Your general solution is obvious and isn't solvng the issue. I'll work on it myself if that's all you have for me. Thanks.
