Printer wont print in black with blue ink out

I have a Canon MX920. I only use black and preferences are set on greyscale. I was sold this model because I was told that each individual cartridge did not affect the other. i have used my printer for 6 months with no issues and have never printed in color. I replaced the 250 PGBK XL yesterday and now I cant print cause it is telling me I need to replace the blue-which I never used. Any way to get around this.

Maybe try removing and reseating the cyan cartridge?

Thanks for the reply, but that did not work. Tried warm water to loosen ink, but that also did not work even though ink flowed.
