Printer feeds paper through, but doesn't print anything on it.

Any suggestions for resolving an issue with my Canon MP280 in which apper feeds thru, but the printer isn't actually printing anything on the paper? I tried on-line troubleshooting, but no errors are being detected.

Does it print anything if you try to print a nozzle check?

I followed on-line instructions yesterday for an alignment check and several small blue and pink rectangles as well as two small rectangles (one with verticle lines and one with horizonal ones) - is this the same as a nozzle check? I'm not able to find my user guide.
