I need a quck way of validating that the QY6-0055 print head for a PIXMA IP8500 Printer is indeed bad before ording a replacement since Canon is very proud of their print heads for a 9+ year old printer coming in at $159.00. The printer blinks 5-orange 1-green (which from the service manual means that the print head cannot be found). The print diagnostics won't work due to the print head can't been seen by the printer.
Is there way to check from the PINs on the printer that the logic board is good or directly on the print head to read the EPROM data directly from the print head to validate where the problem really lies?

Hi cbuzzsaw,
We cannot guarantee that replacing the print head in the unit would resolve the issue the printer is experiencing; we recommend having the printer looked at by a service facility to determine the exact remedy to the issue. We ask that you please call or email us at one of the methods on the Contact Us page for further assistance.
