Last week Windows downloaded a new driver for my PIXMA MP640 or at least I think this happened because I just caught sight of a window appearing near the Notigication Area of my Win 7 desktop. I did not ask for it and since then there has been a long delay when I switch on the printer whilst the computer recognises that the printer is online. So I downloaded the driver from the Canon website again. Since then the status bar does not display in the bottom right hand corner of the screen when printing. I find this very useful so what has happened please? I can open the status bar from the "Canon-My Printer" shortcut on the desktop and "Enable Status Monitor" is ticked.
My MP640 has a cable link to the computer and has worked perfectly for over three years. I have removed the old Canon driver twice and downloaded again. Any help appreciated please.
