Pixma MG6620 "on" light is lit, but doesn't respond in any way

I have had a Pixma MG6620 since September 2015.  It has worked fine for the most part until a week ago.  I attempted to print and nada - just a message that states "Printer not responding".

When I went to the machine to have a look, the power light was on and the triangular warning symbol in the lower right corner of the panel was also lit.  The display box was blank and the printer would not respond to pressing any of the buttons including the on/off button.  The "on" light does not turn off when the on button is depressed.

I unplugged the printer and allowed it to sit for some time, but no difference.  I have tried this several times, letting it sit for overnight on one occasion, without any difference.  It's as if it is not turning on at all (just lighting the light).  I have no idea what happened or how to fix this.

Can anyone offer some help?  Thanks so much!!

Hello.

Are you able to perform copies directly from the printer itself?  If not, what exact error appears on the display when copies fail?

Hmmm...I thought I was pretty clear (including in the subject line) that the machine DOES NOT RESPOND IN ANY WAY.  Any way would include printing, copying, scanning...  It does absolutely nothing except light the "on" light.  It won't even turn that light off unless, of course, it is unplugged.  So it's clear that power is getting to the machine but it is otherwise dead.  There is no error message - as I stated, the display does not work (also part of DOES NOT RESPOND IN ANY WAY).

Sorry if I sound a bit testy, but that's beause I AM testy.  I've had this machine for apx 9 mos of light use and then it appears that you didn't even bother to read my message.  Checking out HP printers now.  I have been a very loyal, long-time customer of Canon but at this point I think it's just going to be Peace Out.

Really?  No further reply?  That's just great.  Thanks so much for all your help.  Guess I really will be switching to HP...

Hello,

Was this issue ever resolved? I have the same problem. No matter what I do the error light comes on as soon as power is restored. The display does not light up. I am able to press the power button but nothing happens.

No, sorry. I simply went out and bought a HP which is still going strong. I did keep the printer and tried it again a month later, just for kicks, but still nothing but the light. So I took it to electronic recycling. I just reread my response to the Canon guy who asked me a question and I feel really terrible about my nasty response! Yes, it was a dumb question, but still... I must have been really frustrated as that’s not like me at all! Sorry you had to see me behaving badly and sorry I don’t have better news for you.
