Is it true that on the Pixma G3270 if the printer has been inactive for a long time (and I have the Automatic ON feature enabled) it will on its own do some sort of nozzle "wiping" operation to avoid nozzle clogging?
Best regards,

I don't own that printer, but my Pro-100 does not execute any sort of cleaning function when the printer is idle.
It does go through various degrees of cleaning cycles when a print job is executed. The degree of the cleaning is related to how long the printer has been idle, but any period longer than a few days always triggers the maximum cycle.

In another thread, specifically with regard to the Pixma G3270, Arthur J, "Product Expert" from Canon, wrote:

I assume that if the printer is OFF, but automatic ON is enabled, it will wake up long enough to do that.
Maybe.

So, if in fact the G3270 "wipes its nose" periodically, and I use it to print infrequently, do I still need to run, for example, a nozzle check print every couple of weeks to keep the nozzles from clogging?
Thanks.

Hi DougKerr,
It is recommended that something is printed every 10 days to 2 weeks. A nozzle check would probably be the easiest.

Hi, Patrick,
Thanks.
I have a "tickler" on my calendar to help me do that.
