PIXMA TS9521C open panel to print??

I just got the ts9521C printer and it is making me open the panel to print anything. I am assuming this is not right but can not for the life of me figure out what is wrong. Can someone please help? Has anyone else experienced this? I want to be able to press print and it print. It is making me crazy!!

Do you mean the flip up panel with the LCD. My TR86620 has a panel like that and it does need to be flipped up to use printer.

well I guess that makes sense as to why I can not find a fix for it. It may just not be the printer for me lol Thank you for letting me know. I appreciate it!!
