PIXMA TS9520 not using small black cartridge

I have had this printer for a year. I have replaced all of the cartridges at least 4 times except the small black one. It is still full. Is there a setting that is only using the XL black?

You do not need to make any adjustments or settings to use a standard vs XL capacity cartridge.  The cartridge type is detected automatically by the printer

Are you using Canon OEM brand inks?

Have you tried to remove and reseat it?

Yes for the ink. I will do a reset.
