I found your blog post about using these for edible images but I can't get my printer to recognize the edible ink cartridges I bought. Any ideas why? I have the same printer you mentioned.

Greetings,
Just wanted to mention. The user who started the thread you are referencing will not see this post / thread. Besides owning the same model printer, your ink could be different as well.
Unfortunately, 3rd party inks are not guaranteed to work with your Canon product. Some can or might work, but none are certified compatible. Canon only recommends and supports their own inks. They are tested and certified to work.
About the only thing I can think of is ensuring all tapes and packaging are removed from the cartridges. Then try removing and reseating them and power cycling the device. If Canon made them, they might be able to help, but there is no way they can control how inks from another vendor are manufactured or work.
I'd contact the seller or ink manufacturer and see what they recommend.
