Thanks for joining the conversation, plainjanea!
So that the Community can help you better, we need to know exactly which Canon printer model you're using within the PIXMA TS6400 series. The model number should appear on the front of the unit at the lower right. That, and any other details you'd like to give will help the Community better understand your issue!
If this is a time-sensitive matter, click HERE search our knowledge base or find additional support options HERE.
Thanks and have a great day!

Hi - I'm having the same problem - just started today when I turned the printer on. I have a Canon PIXMA, TS6400, Series No [redacted], getting Support Code 7700. I've been using the same ink cartridges for a while - (they are not running low) - but it wasn't a Canon Product.

Ink was from ValueToner - compatible with the printer - has been working fine until today

We apologize, however TS6400 is the series, not the printer model. The model will be on the front of the printer or on top, you may need to lift the paper tray to see it. As far as ink is concerned, we can't really troubleshoot 3rd party ink, because we don't know what's in it, the quality, or if it is actually what they say it is.
We'd recommend grabbing Canon ink cartridges to perform a deep cleaning to see if that resolved the issue.

Basically the problem gets created by using a non Canon cartridge. ##CANON provides no support here. Don't expect it!!!! It's a joke.I found I was within my warranty and exchanged for a new one.

We design our inks very specifically for our printers, using high-quality materials so that the print quality is the best it can be, and our printers keep running as smoothly as possible without damaging the print heads or gumming up any of the internal components. Many cheap inks are low quality and leave residue on the components in your printer. This can not only impact the quality of prints, but it can cause the printer to stop working altogether.
Because we don't know what chemicals other manufacturers put in their inks, we cannot and do not support using any ink other than Genuine Canon inks and toners. Canon USA cannot be held responsible or liable for any damages or other losses due to using non-Canon inks and toners. The 1-year limited warranty does not cover physical damage.

Support code 7700 does not enable the cartridge to be changed. When opening the printer, nothing happens (i.e. the ink cartridges remain idle). Please advise
