PIXMA TR8620a - won’t print from screen after moving.

I just recently moved and was resetting up my computer set up and my Canon TR8600 printer will print if I am able to do like a scan but if I try to print a document off of my computer screen, it says that it’s not responding. I am doing a hardwired connection with the appropriate cable into the USB port on the back of my computer.

I do not have my Internet set up, but that shouldn’t make an issue if I just wanna print something off of my computer like a saved document or whatever. At least that’s what I thought.
Am I going to have to delete the printer and then start over again or something.  I won’t be able to download any drivers til I get my internet setup. So that’s my issue like I don’t wanna try to go forward and end up going backwards.

Well, for some reason I plugged into the wrong USB outlet. I messed around with the different ones that I have and finally got it to work. I’m just hoping no other settings got messed up

How was your printer connected? Wifi connection drops often due to various issues, so I suggest you connect using a printer/usb cable. Usually when using a USB windows will see the printer and install basic drivers, if installed previously then changing from wireless to USB then this may help:

Step 1: Prepare the USB Connection

  • Ensure you have a compatible USB cable ready.
  • Connect one end of the USB cable to the printer and the other end to your computer.

Step 2: Change Printer Settings

  1. Turn on the Printer: Make sure the printer is powered on.

  2. Access the Printer Menu:

    • On the printer's home screen, select Setup.
    • Navigate to Device settings.
  3. Select LAN Settings:

    • Choose LAN settings.
    • Look for the option to disable the wireless connection.
  4. Disable Wireless:

    • Select the option to disable the wireless feature. This will ensure the printer is no longer connected to the Wi-Fi network.

Step 3: Install Printer Drivers

  • If you haven't already, install the necessary drivers for the printer on your computer. You can usually find these on the Canon website or through the installation CD that came with the printer.

Step 4: Confirm Connection

  • After connecting via USB, check your computer's printer settings to ensure the Canon TR8600 is recognized and set as the default printer.

By following these steps, your Canon TR8600 should now be successfully connected via USB.

Well, for some reason I plugged into the wrong USB outlet. I messed around with the different ones that I have and finally got it to work. I’m just hoping no other settings got messed up
