I have a pixma tr8620a and it is showing that I ran out of yellow ink but the cartridge is still half full of ink. I cannot print because of this error code, how can I bypass since I still have plenty of ink?

Hi,
I recommend performing a reset of the printer. While the printer is on, unplug the power cord from the printer. While the power is off, press the power button 5 times. After 60 seconds plug the power cord back in and power on the printer.
If the reset does not work, try holding the stop button down on the printer for 5 seconds and then release it.
Should the low ink still not clear, I recommend you reach out to Canon support. You will need to register your Canon gear HERE to access additional support options.

I have the same model that I purchased in May 24. I just replaced all the cartridges and get the Support Code 1660 error message. I have tried removing and reinstalling the cartridges and cleaning the cartridges' contacts. I have turned the printer on and off and tried removing the power cord and pressing the power button five times. There is apparently no method to bypass this error code and use the cartridges that cost me about $100. I would imagine that feature is by design. It appears as if the best solution is to purchase a new printer, but certainly not a Cannon.
