PIXMA TR7021a-Blurry printing of PDF documents

I just purchased a Canon Pixma TR7021a inkjet printer. When I print any type of pdf document, the text is blurry/fuzzy. However, when I print a Word or Excel document, the printing is clear, even with small font. The printing is also clear when I print something from a website. The issue seems to be solely with pdf documents. Any advice?
