PIXMA TR7020a unable to scan

While in the middle of scanning numerous documents from the ADF, the scan stopped and gave a scan gear error message 157.  I am no longer able to scan anything.  I have turned both the computer and the printer off and on to no efffect.  I have checked all connections including the wifi connection.  All checks ok.  I have uninstalled the printer drivers and the scan utility and reinstalled, but still unable to scan.  Printing is ok.  This system has been working great for a long time when scanning one document at a time, but the problem started when I tried to scan 8 documents at one time.

Oddly enough, error code 157 is commonly associated with an ink level or cartridge problem, which does not fit in your case. I said commonly but not always, sometimes the cause can't be found but still reset.

This may help you resolve this issue:

Thank you, Derrick.  I replaced the black ink cartridge and everything seems to be back to normal.  Your comment about this error code being commonly linked to ink level and the link you sent suggesting replacing the ink cartridge reminded me that I have recently been getting a message that my ink was running low, but I have been ignoring that because my print copies have been normal.  Thanks for your wisdom.
