PIXMA TR4720 Stuck in Copy Mode

aarondds
Apprentice

My Pixma TR4720 is stuck in copy mode.  I have reset all of the settings & data.  I have confirmed that the firmware is up-to-date.  I have power-cycled it several times.  Has anyone succesfully kicked it back out of copy mode once it has gotten stuck there?  I have tried everything.  As of now the printer is useless since it cannot print using a USB cable or wirelessly while stuck in copy mode.  It's not even 2 years old so I am surprised this is an issue.  Searching online it appears as if this is a common issue but no one has found a succesful solution yet.  Any and all suggested fixes are appreciated.  Thank you in advance.

Hi aarondds,

With your PIXMA TR4720 powered on, what exactly appears on the display of your printer?

Please press the wrench and screwdriver on your PIXMA TR4720 one time.

Does the display on your PIXMA TR4720 change?

Hello Patrick,

With the printer powered on the screen reads: "Copy 100% Letter 01".  When I press the wrench & screwdriver button the display changes to read: "Setup menu: Wi-Fi setup".

Thanks in advance,

Aaron

Hi aarondds,

Because you are able to acess the set up mode, it would appear that your TR4720 is not "stuck" in copy mode.

Please follow these steps:

1.  Please press the wrench and screwdriver button on your printer one time.

2.  Press the right arrow 2 times to select Device settings and press OK.

3.  Press the right arrow 1 time to select LAN settings and press OK.

4.  Press the right arrow 2 times to select Print LAN details and press OK.

3 pages will print.

Please look at 3-2-1 signal strength.  Is the number listed there greater than 50%?

Please look at 3-2-6 SSID.  Is that the name of your Wi-Fi?

Lastly, look at 3-2-12 IP Address.  Does that address start with 192.168 or 10.0 ?

Also, what version of Windows are you using?
If you are using a Mac, what version of the macOS is installed ?

Signal Strength: 38%

SSID is correct

IP Address starts with 192.168

OS: Windows 11 Pro

Thanks,

Aaron

Hi aarondds,

Please circle the IP address next to 3-2-12 and follow these steps:

1. On your computer, please press the Windows key on your keyboard and the letter R, then let both go.

2. In the Run window that appears, please type CMD and click OK.

3. In the Command Prompt window that appears, please type:

PING xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx   (<-- where the x's are the IP address that you circled next to 3-2-12.)

and then press the Enter key on your keyboard.

So for example, if you circled 192.168.1.35, then in the command prompt window, please type PING 192.168.1.35 and press the Enter key.

After pressing Enter, did you get:

A - Timed out
B - Destination host unreachable
C - Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0
