My printer canon mx922 worked perfectly fine and then it prompted me to update the software on the printer itself so I clicked on it for it to update and now all of a sudden when the printer powered back on it says not the proper print head for printer ? All happened after updating printer I never should have updated it

Greetings,

The MX922 is a 13 yr old device.  Great that yours has lasted for so long.  It's testimony to its build quality.

Are you receiving error 1403 incorrect printhead installed?

I'd try removing, cleaning the contacts and reseating the printhead.  Take a look at the KB article below.

https://support.usa.canon.com/kb/s/article/ART143853

Printheads have a useable lifespan.  They are subjected to high voltage and generate extreme heat.  They degrade over time and they don't last forever.  All things aside.  Printing technology and quality has dramatically improved since the 922 was released.  Have you considered gifting yourself an updated model?

Canon has an upgrade program that offers a small discount and free shipping.

You can also contact the Canon Sales Team for help choosing a new model that fits your needs and budget.

I know you're probably thinking the firmware update caused the issue you are experiencing, but that's unlikely.  Try the reseat / cleaning procedure outlined above and let us know the result.
