PIXMA MX472 Documents not printing properly, photos are OK

pixma mx472 printer only printing correctly from mobile app using photo print if i try printing a document it has vertical blank or white lines if i screen shot the document on my phone use canon print app go to photo print then print settings choose paper size letter 8.5 X 11 media type photo paper the document prints perfect its just really inconvenient

I have Google Pixel 7 Pro Android version 15 and Canon Print app version 3.3.1

Hi TabithaMulkey,

First, please make sure that your ink cartridges contain ink and are genuine Canon ink cartridges.  The following ink cartridges are compatible with your PIXMA MX472:

PG-240 black
CL-241 color

PG-240XL black
CL-241XL color

PG-240XXL black

Next, please follow the steps in the manual to perform printhead cleanings and print a test page:

If the issue persists, please clean the encoder inside of your PIXMA MX472:

Check / Clean the Encoder Film - PIXMA MX472

Please clean the encoder again if the lines still appear on the printed page.

If the lines still appear after following all of the suggestions above, your PIXMA MX472 would require service.  If your PIXMA MX472 was purchased less than a year ago, please contact one of Canon's Technical Support Representatives via phone or chat to obtain your in warranty options. To contact a Technical Support Representative, please use the link below to log into your My Canon account:

Once logged in, click on your PIXMA MX472 and then click on the Product Support button.  When that page loads, click on either the Phone Support button or the Chat Support button to access support.

If your PIXMA MX472 is out of warranty, you are eligible for Canon's Upgrade Program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service, or for some reason are incompatible with a new or upgraded system. This option allows you a one-time opportunity to purchase a replacement product, discounted from the list price.

On February 03, 2025 I purchased a new printer at Walmarta Canon Pixma TR4722 for 69.00. Wish I had known about the upgrade discount prior to purchase.
