I've owned these two Canon All In One units for many years and wanted to set them up again for my notebook computer (Win 10-64 bit). Because both use the same two cartridges (1 x PG210 & 1 x CL211), I bought two of each.
Then, I came to the Canon website page for each to get drivers. Both pages said that its printer has been discontinued, but I nevertheless downloaded and installed the latest software available for each, then installed the color & black ink cartridges into each. Ready to test.
I plugged up (power cord & USB cable) the MX-340. Printed great and scanned great! Next, I plugged up the MP480. Prints great, but wouldn't scan. Hmmm. I looked at the device info. I saw that the the MP480 was set to use the MP Navigator EX 2.0 software and there was an option available to use the MP Navigator EX 3.1 software (presumably what the MX340 was using), so I selected the v3.1 driver and tried again. Still no scan,
I came here, looked around, and discovered (consistent with my experience) that using Win 10-64 bit, the MP480 will print, but cannot scan.
I don't doubt that's true, but because I bought these two units around the same time, both use the MP Navigator EX software, and they both even use the same ink cartridges, I'm left wondering what's the difference in these scanner components in these two that the MP480 cannot scan under Win 10-64 bit, but the MX340 scans just fine?
Anybody know?
Thanks.

Thanks for letting us know what Canon product you've got. The PIXMA MP480 is an older model which we have retired. While that means that Canon USA no longer offers direct support for it or its drivers, your friends here in the Canon Community are welcome to offer suggestions!
You can also speak with a Canon Upgrade Program specialist to help you score a modern replacement that would meet your current needs at a discount. You can reach them weekdays and Saturdays at 1-866-443-8002.
Hope this helps!
