PIXMA MG6120 INK CRADLE STUCK

joanne19
Apprentice

My Pixma MG6120 kept getting the INK ABSORBER FULL" message, and afteringoring at a long while I decided to try to do something.  I tried resetting the printer a few times, with no success .  I decided I would try to clean the absorber pad....But then I got a message PRINTER ERROR. CONTACT SERVICE CENTER.   Now that I want to remove the absorber pad, the INK CRADLE has moved all the way to the right and will not come back to center (where you would change ink cartridges or see the absorber pad).

How can I mnually get the INK CRADLE to return to center so I can try to find the in absorber pad?!?!?

THANK  YOU

Hi joanne19,

Please unplug the power cord for 24 hours.  If after that time, the error persists, your PIXMA MG6120 would require service.

You may be able to replace the ink absorber, but please note that you would need the service tool to reset the printer and that utility has not been made publically available.

You are eligible for Canon's Upgrade Program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service, or for some reason are incompatible with a new or upgraded system. This option allows you a one-time opportunity to purchase a replacement product, discounted from the list price.

To help you get up and running quickly, we also offer free standard shipping (if the order is completed by 12:30PM ET). If you would like to take part in this option, please call our Sales Department at (866) 443-8002 seven days a week, 8am to Midnight. Let them know you have been working with technical support and the Canon Upgrade Program was offered.

Patrick, you didn't answer her question.  I am right now in the same pickle as Joanne.  I've been searching the internet high and low for some help (and wishing I hadn't procrastinated on cleaning the pads!).  Finally I find Joanne's post, and sadly, your unhelpful reply and sales pitch.  Joanne, did you ever find a solution or did you just pitch the dumb printer out the window?  I know it's been awhile since the post/reply, but hoping you get notification of my message.  I have a Pixma MG3620, super cheap, knew it would probably be a throw-away but not right now!!!  LOL  Any help is appreciated.  Sales pitches are not.  Tessa
