PIXMA MG5320 Scanner fails to open on new Mac computer

MargeM

I have a PIXMA MG5320 printer.  It prints just fine with my new Mac computer.  When I try to scan a document I get a message that says:  "failed to open a connection to the device -21345".  Any idea what I need to do to get it to work?

Hi MargeM,

Please follow these steps:

1. Turn the PIXMA MG5320 on.

2. Repeatedly press the down arrow until you see the wrench and screwdriver icon.

3. Press the button below the wrench and screwdriver icon.

4. Use the left arrow to select Device Settings and press OK.

5. Use the down arrow to LAN settings and press OK.

6. Use the down arrow to select Other settings and press OK.

7. Use the down arrow to select TCP/IP settings and press OK.

8. Use the down arrow to select IPv6 and press OK.

9. Use the up arrow to select Yes and press OK.

10. Use the down arrow to select Inactive and press OK.

Once set, please turn your printer off and then your computer off.

When they are both off, turn your computer back on and then your printer and attempt to scan.

I still get a message "Failed to open a connection to the device (-21345). Thanks for the above directions.  I didn't know that those screens were available or how to access them.

I don't know if this makes a difference;  my printer is connected to the Mac by a cable.  I never could figure out how to set-up the wi-fi connection.  I'd appreciate some help on that too.

Thanks for chiming in, MargeM!  Since it's different from the one that led this thread, we recommend starting a new thread for your Wi-Fi connection question.  Just visit our Printer Software & Networking board and click the red "START A CONVERSATION" button to get going.  Hope this helps!

I still get a message "Failed to open a connection to the device (-21345).  Any other ideas?

What do I do now?
