PIXMA MG3500 Series: New MAC OS System Now Scanner Doesn't Work

I've recently updated my MAC OS system on a MacBook Air. Now the the Canon IJ Scan Utility App doesn't work. I can still print, but when I try to open the app to scan it says that Canon needs to provide an updated app to support this function. Any help? I need the scanner and I've already try to go back to the old MAC OS and it won't allow it. Thanks!

I don't believe that Canon has updated IJ Scanner to work with newer OS' (I believe it is 32 bit). You will need to try some other way such as Image Cpature, as mentioned, or something like the (paid) Hamrick Vuescan.

Thank you for your suggestion.  I reset the printing system as you suggested and re-added the printer but I cannot add the printer without the scanner.  I am still getting the same permissions issue and error message when trying to use image capture.

I am having the same problem with the PIXMA MG6620 and the Mac OS. The printer works. The scanner does not. They both used to work. The most irritating part of the problem is that all the help materials are pointing me to getting the printer to work. It works. The scanner does nothing. The Canon MG6620 shows up in "Printers and scanners" but nothing there lets me say "Hey I want you to scan dang it!"

I do finally see users here telling me to scan using Image Capture. I have the up but still noting happens. I removed and re-added the Canon device and still nothing. Someone said to use Preview.  That also does nothing. Can someone send detailed instructions on how to scan using either Image Capture or Preview.

I am able to scan to a personal PC but I need this scanner function for work so I can't send work docs to a personal device.

If it shows up in file->import from scanner

VueScan might also solve your problems. It has a try before you buy function
