PIXMA MG2220 won't detect new full print cartridge

I replaced both the color (241) and black (240XL) ink cartriges in my pixma mg2220. Now it shows full color ink, and low black ink still. I have tried reinstalling the black twice, but it still shows low. It does seem to print ok though. Ideas?

My Cannon MG3520 might be the biggest piece of garbage I have ever puchased from anyone. It has never worked right. Having to spend days trying to get new ink cartridges to work is totally insane. I will never puchase Cannon again.

throw it in the trash & buy a differant brand. I have fought with this a couple years now.

I am having similar issues with my MG2920. I replaced the black ink (while it was low, but prior to running out completely). It will not register the new cartridge. I have taken out the black cartridge and unplugged to preform the reset. When the start up is complete the black ink light keeps blinking. I tried holdin Stop for 10 seconds, now both the Black Ink and Power lights are flashing at the same time.

I have tried all of these ideas and nothing works. It's ridiculous that so many people are suffering from the same issue. These printers average a year old. Mine has been doing this for months. New ink and can't print. Ridiculous that there isn't more help than this.

Got to the unplug line (line 6) and now my printer wont turn on.  Went from bad to worse with this whole cartridge issue.

Hi, UserFriendly!

Thanks for posting.  Several Canon printer models have been mentioned in this conversation thus far.  So that the Community can help you better, we need to know exactly which Canon printer you're using. That, and any other details you'd like to give will help the Community better understand your issue!

Thanks and have a great day!

I'm dismayed to see how many users are affected by this and the similar fault 'cartridge not recognised'. I'm in the UK and my Pixma MG3650 is 18 months old.  Although a perfectly good color cartridge was installed and in use the printer decided spontaneously to give this error for the color cartridge.  Needless to say the printer will now not accept a new Canon color cartridge.  What is really galling is that I cannot just print in BLACK while this fault remains.  Has anybody really managed to clear this?

Well EUREKA !!

Having purchased a replacement to use the same cartridges my Pixma 3650 was put aside .  Checked occasionally by switching on for a few minutes I was reluctant to throw it out.  The new printer came up with the 'not recognized' error so I decided to pop the cartridges back into the old printer.  AND ... it's now working!  Having lain unused it has decided it has had enough of neglect.   So - don't depair.  Your Canon will probably correct itself a few months after you've purchased a new one.  Fortunately my new printer is also OK now with new cartridges.

I used to love Canon printers. But now they get crapier every year. It's bad enough that they extremely overcharge for the ink. Then they want you to put the expensive ink in the garbage printers.
I have the MG3520 and it's junk. It worked for a few months, now it print blurry, vertical lines and no colors but black.
