Hi. Hoping someone can help me.
This is a 4 year old little used Pixma IP8720. A few weeks ago, I replaced most of the cartridges and everything was working fine. Now, when I turn it on, both the white and orange lights are continuously flashing. Nothing I have tried has worked.
I searched the internet and could not find an answer. Hoping someone here may be able to help me. I would just buy a new printer if it weren't for the fact that I have so much invested in the cartridges that I just replaced. Wouild sure appreciate someone coming to my rescue. I'm not sure I want to invest a visit for a repair technician for a 4 year old printer.
Thanks very much.
Caryn

Hi caryn1047,
Pleas take note of how many times the power and error lights flash. Once you have the number of times that they flash, please refer to the web page below to determine the cause and the resolution:

You are eligible for Canon's Upgrade Program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service, or for some reason are incompatible with a new or upgraded system. This option allows you a one-time opportunity to purchase a replacement product, discounted from the list price.
To help you get up and running quickly, we also offer free standard shipping (if the order is completed by 12:30PM ET). If you would like to take part in this option, please call our Sales Department at (866) 443-8002 weekdays and Saturdays after 11 AM ET (8 AM PT). Let them know you have been working with technical support and the Canon Upgrade Program was offered.

The same exact thing is happening to me. Did you ever fix this?

The original post is over five years old, the printer was over four years old so I don't think you will get a response. Let's not wait for one, but try to fix your issue now. This article explains the flashing alarm light, notice the count, see the article, it has suggested fixes for each count, if you still need help come right back here and let us know.

Thank you for your reply. The flashes alternate between the yellow error light and white power light, and there are 10 yellow flashes before it pauses for a few seconds on the white power light and starts over. From the link you shared it seems 10 flashes means "An error requiring you to contact the service center has occurred." So I guess I'll have to pay for a support request. I don't have a warranty or original receipt.
