PIXMA G6020 - started giving error 1476 and won't print

Noni

My G6020 printer has started giving error 1476 which says the print heads are incompatible. They're the same print heads that came with the printer when I bought it and have been working fine for years. I have already checked that the print heads are seated, and they seem to be, unless I have forgotten how hard to press them in.  I have done the maintenance that I can do and made sure the tanks are full. Does anyone know how to fix this?  Any suggestions appreciated! Thank you!

Thank you, Patrick, but it's long gone.  I took it to be recycled and purchased another brand.

I had the same error on my G6020 turned out the contacts on the print head were dirty. I took them out, gently cleaned the contacts with a lint-free cloth and a bit of isopropyl alcohol, let them dry, then reseated them firmly. Worked after that! Might be worth a try.

Thank you, drakeshawn, I had tried that. The last two printers I had before my current printer were Canon Pixma G3000 series and G6020, and both required constant cleaning to keep them printing. Both lasted about a year before they wouldn't print at all anymore. So I decided to try a Brother MFC-J1215, and so far I'm very happy with it. It's been very dependable and if I print through the Brother app, the photo print quality is comparable to a Canon photo printer. In the past, I had a Canon i9100, and it lasted me years and years and years, until I had to replace it just because it became difficult to get the cartridges. Those were the days when you could still get a good quality printer. Now, everything is disposable, sadly.  I still have a full, unopened bottle of Canon black ink for the G6020 that I don't know what to do with. I hope it's recyclable.

glad to hear the Brother MFC-J1215 is working out for you! I’ve heard good things about its reliability. Totally agree those older printers like the i9100 were built to last. As for that extra Canon ink, you might be able to drop it off at an office supply store for recycling, or maybe even sell/give it away on a local swap site.

Thank you, I'll see if Staples will take it at their recycle counter. I'm glad to hear you've heard good things about the Brother printer, thanks for sharing that. 🙂
