I think I need to run an ink flush to fix my printing problem and I'd like to know how full the ink absorbers are before doing that. I found some instructions to put similar models into service mode but none seem to work on my G6020. Maybe how to find a service manual? I'd also like to know how to access the ink absorbers. Any help is appreciated.

Hi BajaBarry,
The service manuals contain proprietary information and are not available.
What is the printing issue that you are experiencing with your PIXMA G6020?

Yellow & cyan not printing and do not appear in the feed tubes but plenty in the tanks.

Hi BajaBarry,
Please perform 2 printhead cleanings:
https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/Manual/All/G6000%20series/EN/UG/ug-135.html
If yellow and cyan still do not print, please perform an ink flush:
https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/Manual/All/G6000%20series/EN/NTR/ntr_h_01.html
If the issue persists, your PIXMA G6020 would require service. If your PIXMA G6020 was purchased less than a year ago, please contact one of Canon's Technical Support Representatives via phone or chat to obtain your in warranty options. your printer should work, if not replace the print heads and run more ink flushes... we need those ink absorbers to fill up so you need to send it in for repair. No, we have NEVER heard of this problem before, send it in and we will check it out

I once had an oven that required a service call when the interior light bulb burned out. I have been using Canon printers for a very long time. I am very disappointed that the design of this printer, which I otherwise like, does not have a user-accessible way to view the ink absorber status and, more importantly, a way for the user to replace the them when full.

If you search the web you will find no information about the G6000 serise ink absorber because they designed the printer to necessitate ink purges of various types and have insured no information is available about it not being servicable beyond adding ink and paper. You will need to send it back to Canon to be refurbished, their they will likely find you have an earlier version board (sorry, that is if your G6000 series bricked itself from the factory update). Sending it back will cost you more than a new printer, I would never by Canon again, they have shown their business model. Neither could I reccomend any HP for similar reasons. Caviat Emptor, never buy anything that doesn't have a service manual, propriatary reasons is a lie.
