Although it appears I should be able to view the ink level on the front of my printer, they are all black. If this is caused by a protective covering, what is the best way to remove without damaging the printer?

Although the technician said he could see ink levels in the pictures I shared and am also attaching here, I still do not know what he was seeing that I am not. It should not be this challenging to see an ink level! As I have been using the printer for several months the ink levels should all be different. Although it looks the same to me, the black was recently filled and 'assume' it stopped adding when it reached the maximum fill. What is the current ink level?

I am experiencing the same problem with my G3070. What is the remedy? It is like looking into the "abyss"!

Hi mkvanhorn73,
Please make sure that your printer is in a well lit area or use a flashlight to view the ink levels of your printer.
You can also view the estimated ink levels by using the display of your PIXMA G3070 series printer:
1. Turn your PIXMA G3070 series printer on.
2. Use the down arrow to select Printer details and press the OK button.
3. Use the down arrow to select Estimated ink levels and press the OK button.
More information can be viewed in the manual here:
G3070 series > Handling Paper, Originals, Ink Tanks, etc. > Refilling Ink Tanks > Checking Ink Level

The actual tanks are not flush against the inside of the printer, they look recessed so a flashlight is necessary to see the ink levels, is that so bad?

I have tried headlamps, handheld flashlights. Incandescent and LED, Magnification too.
No joy... I just filled the tanks and reset the level estimator.
Is it so bad?
No, just inconvenient...
