PIXMA G3270 Why not be able to scan via the feeder?

Just bought the G3270 for work.  In order of work usage priority, I got it first for the scanner, then printer.  I overlooked the spec sheet where it says flatbed once I realized I could use the feeder, but under scan features it says "scan multi-page PDF".  Please tell me WHY you wouldn't enable scanning via the feeder?  If it does allow multi pages using the flatbed that just seems so ineffective.  For business people, or most people now, we usually need the scanner not just for multiple pages, but for front/back scanning.

Is there any chance Cannon will be updating this somehow to allow through the feeder without requiring the purchase of a new device?  Please do it for the people, please.

This printer does not have a document feeding capability to flip the document over to scan the second side. It's that simple.  You bought the wrong printer to do what you need to do.

Automatic two-sided scanning takes a completely different feeding system. Canon can't "update" the hardware.

Greetings ,

Unfortunately, as my colleague pointed out the G3270 does not have a document feeder.  The paper tray on the back routes paper through the print engine.  Copy and scan can only be performed from the platen.  As he also pointed out there is no upgrade as no hardware exists to enable such a feature.  If you need simplex or duplex scanning from a document feeder, you will need to buy a printer that has an automatic document feeder.
