Hello everybody,
last week I buyed an MG7750 printer and scanner. I ran the driver installer from the Canon web site on both of my Windows 7 Home 64 bit notebooks. Install failed on the first try on both machines as the installer was in each case not able to continue correctly after an allegedly "outdated" software had been updated. So I uninstalled everything and reinstalled the drivers again on both machines and this time the installation was successful.
I quit the installation after the drivers had been installed on both machines. I did not install the additional software like "Image Garden".
The printer is accessed via WLAN and that works perfectly. The prints have an excellent quality and I am highly satisfied with the printer. However, there is a strange quirk with the scanner part:
I can only scan by using the Canon scan utilities that are installed with the driver. I can not access the scanner with WIA (short for "Windows Image Acquisition"). As WIA is *the* standard to access scanners under Windows this is quite strange.
So this means that e.g. my Photoshop Elements 13 does not *see* a scanner and neither does Windows Fax and Scan.
I previously had an MP620 and there the WIA scanner drivers worked perfectly.
I examined the WIA service log and everytime I look for a scanner under WIA there is an entry that says "WIA: 13276.13184 0 0 0 [sti.dll] ERROR: IWiaDevMgr2_GetImageDlg_Proxy, SelectDeviceDlg Failed, hr = 0x80210015". The error code means "device not ready".
The scanner works perfectly as a WIA device when I connect to it with an USB cable. It just wont work with WLAN, despite the fact that the scanner is visible and selected in the "Canon scanner selector EX".
I contacted Canon support by phone but they do not seem to understand the problem as they keep insisting that "WIA drivers are supplied my Microsoft" which is wrong. WIA drivers have to be supplied my the scanner manufacturer which is explained here.
So, is there a knowledgeable Canon tech support person here that understands the technical details with whom I can discuss this annoying problem? I am a seasoned Windows program developer and I would like to talk "tech" so we can fix this for the benefit of all.
Thanks in advance.

Does this help?

Thanks for your answer.
Well, it helps explaining to Canon "support" why they are wrong. it does not help me to solve the problem. The documentation says that there should be an item "MG7700_[mac-addr]" under Computer\Network but there is none.

Try reinstalling the driver package. Thats all I can suggest.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers 4 times to no avail.
Today I found out that the printer should appear under "Control Panel/Computer/Networks". It did not. The reason was that the Bitdefender AV had disabled the Network connection service. So I uninstalled the drivers once again and reinstalled them with the service running and the AV not running and there it was. Finally I had a WIA scanner when using the WLAN but...
now I get another error: "Windows can't load your scan profile. Your profile might not be compatible with this scanner. Windows will scan using the default settings." accompanied by the following WIA log entry: "ERROR: CEnumWiaItem::Initialize, CEnumWiaItem::Initialize, pInitialFolder is not a folder". I have no idea what this is about and I cannot find anything about this via Google.
