Need to replace MG7150

My MG7150 is 6 years old. It has just developed a problem with it printing black text badly, i.e. double images of letters and numbers and general lack of crispness. There is a thread somewhere on these forums where others users have experienced this but there is no solution.

So I need to get a new printer. The current printer is wi-fi enabled and does scan and copy so I'd like to keep that. I'm a keen photographer and I'd like to make sure my new printer produces A4 prints to at least the same standard, if not better than my current one.

Canon produce several multi function printers which seem to meet the bill but I would be grateful if someone tell me which one will give the photo perfomance that I need. I can't really justify the cost of an A3 printer. When I need prints of that size, I get those done commercially.

Thanks.

Greetings,

KB article for a 7120 not (7150).  If your printer has a timing stip, I suggest you try cleaning it before giving up on the printer.  A drity encoder strip can be one of the primary causes for "double images" of letters.

Appreciate the link Rick. I followed the procedure. The timing strip is very difficult to see but it looked clean. I gave it a clean with isopropyl alcohol anyway but it didn't fix the problem. Definately worth a try though, thanks.
