NO DIALOG BOX when scanning with Pixma MG2120

MG2120 worked fine on old computer. Need it for new Acer Aspire 1 Notebook now. No CD drive on notebook, so I downloaded driver today  from http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/printers_multifunction/photo_all_in_one_inkjet_print....  64-bit Windows.

I can now PRINT, when when I SCAN, I get no dialog box. The printer responds in the same ways that it used to; the "copies" number circles around and something in the machine moves back and forth, like a copy machine might.  Normally at that point, a message box shows on my computer saying "scanner is warming up; do not open cover."  And then I get the dialog box that allows me to specify a location, etc.

I've tried restarting compueter, unplugging printer for 20 seconds, re-intstalling the dirver, nothing helps. Is this not the latest driver, or what?  If not, WHY NOT.

I noticed there is no folder in my Pictures folder that was automatically created on my last computer.  Maybe it's not created until I successfully scan something.  But just in case that's a clue...

Please help me.  I am SO TIRED of buying printer after printer after printer after printer only to have them crap out after a very short time..

Five days later and no input from Canon.  Why am I not surprised. Note to self: no more Canon products.

Hello Pettus,

We'll be happy to help! First, we'd like to apologize for the delay, our Subject Matter Experts were experiencing a bit of a back-up! If you ever run into a time-sensitive issue, feel free to reach out to us through our "Contact Us" link, as the forums are not intended for immediate support per the forum guidelines.

We would suggest downloading the updated MP Navigator software from the "Drivers and Software" page you downloaded the driver on. It may need the updated scanning software that is available on that page. Check out the link below to head right to it (it is the last option under "Software"):

If the issue continues after this download, we'll need a little more information to determine what may be occurring. Please visit the link below to drop us an email. We're sure we can help!

Thanks!
