My Canon Pixma MG5420 Hasn't Been Printing Properly.

I cleaned everything I could with tissues and q-tips and went through all of the cleaning settings, but prints either come out blurry or words and such will be vaguely duplicated. I just put new ink cartridges today, if that means anything. I don't want to end up having to take it to a shop for repairs.

Sounds like the encoder strip is dirty. Try cleaning it with q-tips and windex or rubbing alcohol. The link below will show you where to look for the right piece to clean.

http://kbsupport.cusa.canon.com/system/selfservice.controller?CONFIGURATION=1011&PARTITION_ID=1&secu...

Cleaned the strip, but prints are coming out like this:   file:///C:/Users/Owner/Documents/IMG_20150803_0001.pdf

The image doesnt show, but if it's still coming out misprinted, there's probably still gunk on the encoder strip. Did you clean both sides? Did you move the ink carriage over to the other side to make sure there wasnt anything on the portion behind it?

Copy and past the text. I'll try cleaning it again
