I have changed cartridges many times and never had this problem.
I have the printer set to print in Black only.
But every time I go to print, I get a box that says: "Only the following ink will be used for Printing...Black". I then have to press OK every single time. Then it works fine, printing only in black.
How do I get rid of this box and extra step?

Jermil, have you tried setting that as the default? That might solve the problem.
if it doesn't, the preferences for your printer are most likely corrupted. I'd locate the prefs file and delete it, then try setting "black and white only" as the default.
good luck!

Your quick response lead me to a solution.
In "printer properties" (W10),I set the ink to "Both Color and Black".
In the W10 print dialog, tho, I set it the "color" to "Black and White".
That did it. It now prints directly with no dialog box.
If these didn't work, I like your idea aobut deleting the pinter prefs file.
Thanks so much.
