MacBook won’t synch up with Canon printer. (American living in South Korea; I do not read Korean)
MacBook won’t synch up with Canon printer.
I recently bought a MacBook Air (2020, Sequoia 15.4.1) and bought a Canon Pixma MG2400 series, which cost about 40 bucks in the local (Korean) currency.
I downloaded a driver, but my Mac won’t accept it; the message says “Apple could not verify ‘PrinterDriver_MG2400 series_110701.pkg’ is free of malware that may harm your Mac or compromise your privacy.” I tried to install from the disk that came with the printer, but same deal. It accepts the scanner software, but not the printer. Poking around a little, it appears this OS doesn’t recognize or accept anything earlier than MG3000 from Canon. Is there a driver that will connect this printer to this computer?

Thanks for joining the conversation, arqueille!
So that the Community can help you better, we need to know exactly which Canon printer model you're using within the PIXMA MG2400 series. The model number should appear on top of the printer just above the on/off button. That, and any other details you'd like to give will help the Community better understand your issue!

Thanks and have a great day!

Yeah, macOS is picky with older drivers, especially ones not verified by Apple. You can try going to System Settings > Privacy & Security and look for a message about blocked software there might be an “Allow Anyway” button for that driver. Otherwise, you could try using AirPrint or a generic printer driver if it's just basic printing. Worst case, might need a newer model that's officially supported.

The printer is locked in my office for the weekend. I tried the "allow anyway" trick already; no go. I will look into AirPrint and generic drivers over the weekend, thanks. Still hoping there is an existing driver made for the purpose.
