MX870 will not print from iMac after upgrade to Yosemite and Canon Software Update 3.0

I have a MX870 which worked perfectly until yesterday's upgrade to Yosemite and the Canon App upgrade from the Apple App store delivered automatically.

We have 2 OS X machines.

1. Success from OS X 10.9.5 machine with older Canon software.
2. Failure from OS X 10.10 machine with the new version of Canon software Canon Inkjet Printer Software Update Version 3.0 Installed 18th October. Printer message "Processing, Please wait momentarily" but never prints.

Can send driver details if requested.
