I've had a lot of small problems with my MX 492 that I've fixed myself. Now it is doing some new things:shutting off by itself, not copying and not scanning. Downloaded new drivers several times. Now it copies. Still won't scan. I need to scan now but my "productivity tool" is not working. There is no phone, email or functioning chat. Support to fix Canon-generated problem for a fee. Should I get a new Canon? What do you think?

When you fixed problems, were they software issues or mechanical problems with printer?
What operating system?
Have there been any recent updates to the operating system?
Is the "productivity tool" a Canon software program?
