MP270 ink absorber full

Grevillea

My MP270 ink absorber is full. I DON'T want to purchase another printer as this one is working perfectly otherwise. Why can't I remove the ink absorber and clean them. We live in a wasteful society of which I don't wish to join so surely there is a better solution than throwing the existing one out and purchasing a new one.

Greetings,

I had a discussion about this with another user this week.  Unfortunately, the MP270 is 15 yrs old.  I don't think parts are even being made for it any longer.  I hear you about eWaste concerns.  .  Have you ever tried to replace a battery in a macbook?  Apple glues it to the case bottom.  You need a heat gun to get it loose.  Apple sells the replacement as a battery and bottom case half.

Depending on your needs, you might want to consider a laser printer over inkjet.

Thanks for letting us know what Canon product you've got, Grevillea. Just as Rick noted, the PIXMA MP270 is an older model which we have retired. While that means that Canon USA no longer offers direct support for it, your friends here in the Canon Community are welcome to offer suggestions!

You can also speak with a Canon Upgrade Program specialist to help you score a modern replacement that would meet your current needs at a discount, and they can also provide you with information on how to deal with your eWaste. You can reach them weekdays and Saturdays at 1-866-443-8002.

Hope this helps!
