MG8120 Has 6C10 Error Message

I have an MG8120 that is in otherwise excellent condition.  Lightly used over the years,  Very clean.  Now I'm getting a 6c10 error message and nothing I do seems to fix it.   I've seen online reference to the resetting the counter on other models which I can't figure out how to do on the MG8120.  There are no loose parts etc and I have turned on and off.  This printer is connected directly to windows 10 pc via USB - no network.  I've called canon but the recording says go away - we don't support this model any longer.  Great.  I guess they want it to end up in a landfill so I can buy a newer model.

Please be sure to register your printer at canon.us/account to discover your personalized support options. Otherwise, our phone system will not let you through to speak to a phone agent.

Free phone support is only available during the warranty period. Beyond that, your options are laid out in your My Canon Account. If you need live one-on-one phone help, you'll be given the option to pay in your My Canon Account - before you call, or you can come here to the Canon Community Forums. Responses aren't immediate, but someone from support will answer your questions (if it's a question that can be answered).

My printer is registered. Canon tells me they no longer support this product.  This is absurd.  It's probably a simple fix.  I stand by my original statement.  I am not given the option to pay into My Canon Account for support outside of warranty.  Simply put, Canon won't help me with this problem.  Terrible customer service.
