MG5420 Setup Help (No CD)

Hello all,

i previously had a MP500 that lasted for about 8 years and then mysteriously died (after I installed a new PGI ink tank, naturally!Smiley Frustrated ). I have replaced it with the MG5420, which a friend was nice enough to pick up for me at a not-so-local 'big box' store for $62 (including tax). The only problem is, the printer was the last one they had and it was 'open box' and my friend was changing jobs and doing me a favor by picking it up on the last day that we would work together.

The Setup CD was not included and the PGBK 250 is blinking (curses! Robot Mad ) so this must have been a floor/demo unit. No worries, a PGI-250 tank is $15 at Best Buy.

I have found Canon's Drivers & Software page ( http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/printers_multifunction/photo_all_in_one_inkjet_print... ) and can download what I need so I just need a little help with the installation sequence.  I tried running one of the programs a day ago (MY Printer - ? - I forget the name) but it would not recognize my Wi-Fi network. I have access to my Linksys E1000 router and can make changes. I also have a USB 2.0 A/ B cable to use, if necessary. Honestly, I don't mind keeping a wired connection and just forgetting the wireless option if it makes setup easier.

I sincerely appreciate any help! Thank you! Woman Happy

Btw, my computer is Win 7 64 bit.
