Ink Tank

My Pixma MX870 just ran out of black ink in the larger port (220).  Can I use a 221 Black in that same port until my 220's arrive?

Greetings,

No.  I do not recommend doing this.

PGI = Pigment based

CLI = Chromalife (Dye based)

These are not interchangeable.

There is a significant difference in the formulations and how the inks behave on paper.  Pigment based inks have larger particles, Dye based inks have smaller particles.   The printer is calibrated and designed to deliver the different inks in the correct proportions.  So its not just about color.

I recommend visiting an office supply,  when the other does arrive, you'll have a spare.
