I thought HP was bad until I came over to CANON.

My HP Envy 4500e stopped scanning and copying after an instant ink cartridge made it "print only." I bought a Canon TS6420a that fits perfectly into my computer cabinet, but I have NO access to the rear paper tray unless I move the printer and do not have the room for doing so. I should have done more research, because you cannot print #10 envelopes from the front tray (it was a breeze with the HP printer and adjustment guides). I also have custom personalized memo paper (5x7) that also worked well in the HP---but no such luck with the Canon. The front tray is good for standard paper, and that's it. Canon should be able to do better. How HARD would it have been (you, design team) to make the front cassette TOTALLY customizable for different types of paper AND envelopes? I guess I will let this junk run its course, and buy something else, but I doubt it will be Canon or HP. At a minimum, Canon should offer additional custom front cassettes for purchase that can easily handle these tasks---as my 10 year-old HP Envy could.

It depends on the model of Canon, my Pixma MG3620 prints everything from the front the only tray it has. My first Canon had one tray the rear, and I kept it for less than a month, got tired of banging my head when loading paper into it, or pulling it out,  being that is was on the bottom shelf of my printer cabinet.

Yeah, this is my fault---didn't do my research, and the printer has to fit the same footprint as the HP Envy 4500 (it does, but without most of the features my HP had). Sadly, I also bought the 4-year extended warranty. If I could return it to Amazon now that it's been set up---I would. I just don't understand how a 10 year-old inkjet printer could have MORE flexibility than a newer machine like this Canon. VERY disappointed in both Canon and HP.
