I purchased a MX452 Canon Wireless Printer. It will not communicate with my phone. What is wrong?

I purchased a Wireless Canon MX452 printer and cannot get it to communicate with my phone.  I did not receive a disk when purchasing.  Do I need to download one?   I am running Windows 7 Professional Edition.
