The error I got will not allow me to print. I have followed the manual to reset this error but I've had no luck. I finally bought new Canon ink cartridges from Staples and replaced those needing replacing but still I can't print. HELP!!

What were the error messages before you changed the inks, and after you changed the inks?

the first error was a bad cartridge error. When I put a proper factory in the didn't go away, but, now I have an printer error that I am unable to reset. I cannot print even though my computer sees the printer, but I can scan and copy. The error shows up when I go to the printer diagnostics.

Make sure that you have the correct cartridge installed in the correct slot(s).
If your troubles continue to persist, I suggest calling 1-800-OK-CANON, for additional help.
