I have a Canon Pixma MX 880 and when I try to change or delete photos on my SD card, I get the following error:

"You need permission to perform this action" and below that:

"You require permission from the computer's administrator to make changes to this file".

Printer is set up wireless.

I am signed on as administrator, can't get access with any user account.

The old problem ridden HP Photosmart I replaced, I could change, delete, etc. without issues.

hi ehnco,

It sounds like the Read/Write attribute on the printer needs to be changed.  Use the following steps to change the read/write attribute:

  1. Make sure that the machine is turned on

  2. Press the <Setup> button.

  3. Use the   button to select  [ Device settings], then press the <OK> button.
The Device settings screen is displayed.

  4. Use the  button to select [Device user settings], then press the <OK> button.

  5. Use the  button to select [Read / write attribute], then press the <OK> button.

  6. Use the  button to select [Writable from LAN PC], then press the <OK> button.
