How to find black rubber frame holding ink absorber pads under the ink cartridge assembly

I have a Pixma MX860 running on Windows 11 home, ver 22H2, with 64-bit processing system.  It has provided good service and prints, copies, etc. just fine.  But now, when I turn it on this message appears: "The ink absorber pads are almost full.”  The printer will work, but I would like to clean the pads..  I have removed the cartridges from the carrier, having been advised there is a black rubber frame under the ink cartridge assembly which contains the ink absorbing pads.  I don’t see it there.   Thanks for any help you can provide.

Thanks for letting us know what Canon product you've got. The PIXMA MX860 is an older model which we have retired. While that means that Canon USA no longer offers direct support for it, your friends here in the Canon Community are welcome to offer suggestions!

You can also speak with a Canon Upgrade Program specialist to help you score a modern replacement that would meet your current needs at a discount. You can reach them weekdays and Saturdays at 1-866-443-8002.

Hope this helps!
